nihama
Saturday night we had an awesome time at Nihama hangin out, playing some worship, passing out tracts and just witnessing.Nihama is like a little America, complete with a ferris wheel and lots of "American" stores. We still found some amazing engrish though.
...becoming...confused?
Shandog and I were talking to this one older guy who had "spiritual caligraphy" paintings for sale, and he was showing us some of his poems which seemed all really sad. So we talked to him for a little bit in broken Japanese and English and found out that he thinks trees and wind and nature are god and that he liked to meditate on nothingness, and that was his "true life". Most Japanese religion is like that, a mix of animism and Buddhism, very peaceful, but still really empty. We found out his name is Takashi, and that he has a Bible but he's never read it, so we challenged him to find a better true life in the gospels. He's just a really sweet man, and he sets up his stand in Nihama often so I hope we'll see him around again.
We set up our stuff and just started playing some worship.
I was able to pass out a lot of tracts despite my pitiful Japanese skills. So that was awesome. It's cool to think that many of the people probably heard about Jesus for the first time that night.
In the mall. Green tea icecream, not as gross as it sounds.
I don't think we stopped laughing that night.
A buttload of us went running up the elevator. Definitely your typical baka geijin. Shandog totally busted on the last stair.
Here's a reinactment...
And here's what happened to her poor lil momo drink. (Nicky tried to drink it and it exploded all over her face.)
Oh yeah, and here is Djudji with her busted up knee. Austrian girls are pretty hardcore.
Nihama was so great. God is so good to us. Please pray for Takashi and whoever else received a tract that night. Also pray for us next Saturday since we'll be going out and doing the same thing. Suito.
