memorial peace park
On Monday we went to the southern tip of Okinawa to visit a peace memorial site. Many doctors and professionals took their lives by jumping off these cliffs.
All the soldiers who lost their lives during the Okinawan war, Japanese and foreign, have their names listed here. Weeeeiird.
!! Our ancestors were probably good ol pals too.
The museum...
The kids' section was amazing. Here we have a realistic depiction of how pigs got their grub back then.
Ummm...
Find the New Yorker!
Some bombs from the war left untouched in their places.
It's easy to understand why the Okinawans are such peace loving people. They've seen the atrocities of war. Some of the testimonies we read at the museum are too gruesome to even repeat. Many innocent civilians suffered unbelievably horrible conditions and lost everything else if not their own lives. Please remember that things like this are still going on in places like the Middle East and Africa, and as Christians we're called to pray and act on their behalf.
