sunday worship
Since the beginning of November I've been helping at my home church here, CC Ginowan. Nicky and I trade off weeks helping Tim lead morning worship, and it's been a fun blessing. There's also Hide on acoustic guitar, Rob on electric guitar, Mark on bass, and Zach on the box.

jimbe
By the way, a bunch of us got jimbes at Kokusai last night. They're usually what Okinawan men will wear...but that's okay. We had a professional model shoot in our living room.

jack's burgers
Last night we also went to Kokusai Dori to do some souvenir shopping. (by the way - if you want me to bring you back anything specific, drop a comment)
And we went to Jack's...
Home of the smallest taco rice spoon ever!!! Dah.
So that was fun. Eating with that spoon. And putting lit matches in our mouths. Ahhhh, fellowship... :)

memorial peace park
On Monday we went to the southern tip of Okinawa to visit a peace memorial site.
Many doctors and professionals took their lives by jumping off these cliffs.
All the soldiers who lost their lives during the Okinawan war, Japanese and foreign, have their names listed here. Weeeeiird.
!! Our ancestors were probably good ol pals too.
The museum...
The kids' section was amazing. Here we have a realistic depiction of how pigs got their grub back then.
Ummm...
Find the New Yorker!
Some bombs from the war left untouched in their places.
It's easy to understand why the Okinawans are such peace loving people. They've seen the atrocities of war. Some of the testimonies we read at the museum are too gruesome to even repeat. Many innocent civilians suffered unbelievably horrible conditions and lost everything else if not their own lives. Please remember that things like this are still going on in places like the Middle East and Africa, and as Christians we're called to pray and act on their behalf.

japanese thanksgiving
Happy post Thanksgiving all my anxious little readers. We had a huge gathering at the CC Ginowan and celebrated it American style with three turkeys. The guys even stuck to tradition by getting up super early and playin a game of football.
Kiera rocks, I love this kid
It was way crowded so I took my plate on the roof.
Liz made posole...dude...it's like red spicy heaven in a styrofoam bowl.
David and Liz Grado with their twirpy Nicholas. I'm so stoked to know these guys, cause they are one of the coolest families on the island.
So we played this game where I had to go "wooooo" every time Dan read the word "corn", and for a sec I was pretty much the only person yelling in this crowd full of people. Awkward, but it's all good.
I hope everybody had good food and thankful hearts - God provides for He is good!
